Software Engineer (Full-Stack)

Rancho Biosciences, a leader in Data Curation, is seeking a Software Engineer, with biomedical background, to direct a small team of developers on a wide array of projects for our pharmaceutical clients and internally. These projects involve creating custom web-based interfaces and standalone applications for data curation and annotation, integration of biomedical ontologies and other data sources, along with development of internal tools.

As Software Engineer, you will:

  • Determine project feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions
  • Document and lead implementation of solutions
  • Support and develop software engineers by providing advice, coaching and appropriate assignment of work
  • Write high-quality, well documented code
  • Organize, maintain, improve, and repurpose existing software

The ideal candidate will:

  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts in a simple, professional manner
  • Persist through difficult problems and independently discover appropriate solutions
  • Know what can and cannot be done with existing resources
  • Juggle multiple priorities with flexibility and adaptability
  • Have a keen attention to detail, along with exceptional organizational skills

Essential Tools and technologies include:

  • C#/.NET framework development
  • C++ front end
  • JavaScript/Typescript
  • PHP, Ruby, HTML
  • SQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Unix/Linux (Python or Perl)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years as a Software Engineer with prior lead experience
  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch
  • Eager and willing to learn new technologies
  • Fluent with functional, imperative and object-oriented languages
  • Prior experience working in biosciences or biomedical fields


  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related

Project Manager (Full time or Part time/Remote)

Rancho Biosciences is seeking an experienced project manager with the ability and proven track record to successfully manage multiple scientific projects within a fast-paced, matrix team environment. This role is client facing and requires exceptional communication skills.

We are a Data Curation company working with some of the most renowned Pharmaceutical companies in the world. Our team of curators, computational biologists, biostatisticians and computer scientists are located throughout the world; we support talented people living where they chose, working collaboratively together on projects that have a real impact on human health.


  • 5+ years, Project Management experience
  • Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Sciences or a related field
  • Strong life sciences background, demonstrated by a trail of relevant presentations, publications and conference talks
  • Detail-oriented and well organized, with an ability to track multiple project budgets and deadlines concurrently
  • Experience with data processing, annotation or curation
  • Exposure to public data sources, such as PubMed, NCBI, TCGA, CCLE, Ensemble, GTEx, Achilles, etc.
